Copenhagen Goodwill Ambassador Corps works with Boeing
Copenhagen Goodwill Ambassador Corps works with Boeing
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Boeing is the largest integrated aerospace company in the world. With customers in more than 90 countries and a global workforce of approximately 158.000 people, the company also is one of the largest U.S. exporters, measured by sales.
Boeing has a long tradition of aerospace leadership and innovation. Denmark’s aerospace and defence industry has made significant contributions to Boeing aerospace projects over the years. As it continues to expand its product line and services to meet emerging customer needs, it is pioneering new technologies for environmentally progressive products and services -- and to design, develop and build them in an environmentally responsible manner. With Denmark being a market leader in environmentally progressive industries thanks to its long-lived culture of sustainability, Boeing expanded its collaboration to Danish cleantech firms as it pursues new markets such as energy solutions.
“It’s all about creating and maintaining a competitive edge in today's global economy,” said Boeing Northern Europe President Jan Närlinge.“Cleantech is crucial for our business portfolio and consequently, so is Denmark.”
For the past several years, Boeing also has been working with engine companies, commercial and military customers, academic institutions and others to accelerate the development of a viable commercial market for sustainable biofuels. Working on a number of fronts, Boeing has actively engaged Danish firms to promote the development of sustainable biofuels for aviation.
One example that stands out is Boeing’s cooperation with Copenhagen Capacity, the Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster and the Copenhagen Goodwill Ambassador Corps. Together with those organizations, Boeing and other participants such as Maersk Line, SAS, Novozymes, AgroTech, and Copenhagen University have been working to establish a biofuels network for the heavy transport sector. Additionally, Boeing is working with Copenhagen Capacity to identify opportunities for Danish-based aviation biofuel production.
“Working with Boeing exemplifies the role of a goodwill ambassador, helping to connect a world-leading company to Copenhagen and Danish stakeholders to create business opportunities and return on investment,” said Robert Arendal, Goodwill Ambassador of Copenhagen.
In addition to its activities with Copenhagen Capacity, the Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster, and the Copenhagen Goodwill Ambassador Corps, Boeing has tapped into other Danish clean technology ingenuity. It is working with Vestas Wind Systems in joint research efforts in aerodynamics, structural health monitoring, and composite fabrication processes, design and analysis; DONG Energy, a leading energy provider in Northern Europe, on smart-grid solutions, and Amplex, on energy-efficient streetlight management.
